NYC, and New York in general, is absolutely gorgeous in the fall! The leaves change, there’s a chill in the air, and there’s the oncoming magic of the Christmas season. If you haven’t been, you need to get going! Once it hits November you might as well call it winter cause that’s what it’s going to feel and look like. From my experience, here are 6 things to do in New York in the fall!
1. Take a Walk
It’s beautiful and still warm enough to walk around without the chance of frost bite! Central Park and the other parks are the place to be to get the full effect of the colorful season!
2. Market, Market, Market
Depending on the area you’re in and what you’re looking for can depend on what market you should check out. To see a listing of markets check out the link below.
3. Thanksgiving Day Parade
I’ve done this once and only once, and it was definitely worth it! I stayed a street away and watched more comfortably and with less of a wait than the other onlookers. Wait by the sidewalk if you’d like, but I’d go to Bryant Park and watch from there.
4. Little Italy
The best food in NYC! Try and go when there is a festival going on as everyone will be out and about. The Annual Feast of San Gennaro typically starts mid/late September.
5. Pumpkin Picking
Going out on Long Island is the best place to go pumpkin picking as it is where the farms are. Who really wants to pick pumpkins in the super market? No one! So make sure to check out the local farms.
6. Apple Picking
Everyone has to go apple picking at least once in their life. And it’s not just about the picking, there’s usually other events going on at the same time. Some places will about have a pumpkin patch, pie shop, wine tasting, and other such goodies! http://www.timeout.com
